Amazing stuff — I have had much of the same criticisms of the rationalist paradigm. Check out this piece that I wrote when you have a chance, I think there’s a lot of overlapping ideas here : https://open.substack.com/pub/brackishwatersbarrensoil/p/there-is-a-god-and-his-name-is-trade

The problem with Rational Materialists is that the thing they claim they are seeking: knowledge, truth, transcend both reason and our material world. Yet they insist on searching within both.

For example, logic can't prove that logic is an accurate tool. It's also not instantiated in our material world. And yet we use this tool with the absolute assumption that it's unerring. So much so that the foundations of math and science assume it works perfectly to carry out reasoning in those respective fields. But where did logic come from, and how can we be so sure it's an airtight tool for discerning truth? No one knows, and yet our most noble goal (truth) requires its accurate use.

5 Stars. Then log in and 5 stars again.

By the way, that's the POINT of AI. It's not actually going to predict anything, no better than today's models and probably worse. What it's doing is handwaving "Computer says" into "Computer REALLY says" so obey computer. I programmed this computer to tell you to give me money and power and I'd hate to see that go to waste. People say "Oh Computer, Dephi Oracle, Chicken Bones, say give you all money? Okay then!"

This is happening right now with Gaza: regardless of the conflict, they were targeting with AI. Having no other parameters, the AI then concluded "Bomb every square inch, everywhere, for everyone, without stopping." The Generals said "Ok" and pointed at "AI told us! It's master super smart!" Meanwhile, any lay person can see *that's not targeting*. Literally, by definition. Targeting is where you decide what NOT to bomb, by prioritizing targets that are first. This is just a means of deflecting responsibility. To who? The very same Generals programmed it. To the Java C++ kids? Well that's the magic: it becomes everyone and no one. "Computer says no." Input=Output. All I need now to run society is to bend the algo, everyone turns to their left, and stabs the person next to them. Computer says. If only I was kidding. https://substack.com/home/post/p-154852446 (AI: 20 minutes into the future")
