I was personally attacked maybe four times. Not bad, really.

Awwe, you're adorable!

You can tell my squat sucks. Easily my worst lift.

Dmitry's avatar

substack should have a weightroom stats section so everyone can get a good idea of how to-the-point we all are.

Ancient Problemz's avatar

Every stat will be accompanied by the author explaining how if they had just gotten better sleep and not had to eat something they didn’t plan on earlier that week and someone they know hadn’t had something happen to them they would have set a new PR.

How awesome is it to partake in real time as a La Rochefoucauld, a Benjamin Franklin, a Pascal for our age shares these useful and illuminating truths with us? And of course, none of those three guys could even lift.

This was actually great, bravo

Dmitry's avatar

tyvm good sir

Patrick's avatar

No, I can’t finish this. I’m too scared. Goodbye.

Dmitry's avatar

"can't finish the essay" apprehensive reading physiognomy detected. possible identity preserving tendencies? high need for cognitive closure? much to unpack here.

Please stop

it's that ancestral adherence to divine and natural order (i.e. not interbreeding, not parasitically exploiting others) that produces the good looks and harmony of form. those born of such integrity don't need to manipulate and rely on causistry, they radiate a self-evident truth and the truth does all the heavy lifting...

This makes you feel terrifyingly naked. My goodness!

Somewhere out there there's a woman who gets this and is poised to start her own version of an occult reading Etsy business, but for writer physiognomy. Palm reading for Substack essays.

My thought as well. It does feels like new age bullshit or something like numerology.

Saying a lot things that appear seductively true but might not be at all.

As far as I’m concerned, applied evidence of the concept should be provided, otherwise it is safe to dismiss.

Just now noticing that Lex Fridman speaks the way Pamela Anderson writes. Lesson in that probs.

APPLIED WRITING PHYSIOGNOMY IN ACTION

nicely done

This is great writing advice. Also I just stood up to straighten my spine. Just because it feels good though, I've got no argument.

Dmitry's avatar

ty sir. nothing like a good spine adjustment and static pull to get the quality argumentation flowing freely

What's the minimum post length to apply this?

Dmitry's avatar

If the subject is something the writer is passionate/opinionated about, prob around 1k words. The more the better.

The more tepid the topic the longer it needs to be. If they consistently write about tepid topics and they're neither here nor there, there's meta physiognomy in that too.

Dmitry, your monochromatic Red Dragon is magnificent! A message beyond words. And I take the movement reminder personally; it's raining right now, and I'm comfy and warm where I sit, haha. I am going to steal--well, I WILL cite you--your "a long winding introduction signals someone unsure if they belong" for a fiction piece I have to critique, since "don't forget to start the story where the story starts" has previously lacked any impact with the young writer. That is for the benefit of those of us who quickly lose interest in stories if action or dialogue isn't forthcoming.

Dmitry's avatar

lol this all warms my heart. yes tell him to level up that writing physiognomy.

and I really enjoy these dragons too. I find myself staring at them.

Elaine elfEars's avatar

Always so happy to warm that sweet heart of yours, sir! 💜 Sometimes art embodies movement and power most gracefully, like those dragons. They say it literally does appear to move when you are looking at some of the paleolithic hunters' cave art in France--which I never have, so I can't confirm that, lol. And BTW, I finished the line commentary. I'll include a link along with my co-opted comment from you in my overview for him later today. He's someone that I think would really enjoy your essays, especially the ones on macro- and public policy econ. AND also, dear Dmitry, my sense of duty compels me to bring to your attention that you left us em-dashers---AKA, Bunny-Trailers---out of your Physiognomy profiles. sniff, sniff😢 hahaha. I should be RELIEVED you did. 🤣 I was spared the spoofing, but WE especially need embodiement, so people don't accuse us of being LLMs, even though I was an enthusiastic em-dasher long before AI ever got popular.
